Bio-remodelling is used to address skin laxity or sagging, and quality of the skin, including dull and spongey skin. Bio-remodelling treatments hydrate and lift the skin through the stimulation of collagen and elastin, which are responsible for the elasticity and firmness of the skin.
Treatments target the quality of the skin at dermis (the inner layer of the skin) level and epidermis (the thin layer of skin above it), by triggering your own natural anti-ageing processes. Bio-remodelling can also reduce the appearance of fine lines by increasing skin hydration, and through the stimulation of collagen and elastin.
Bio-remodelling treatments can only be considered within the context of a consultation to determine suitability given your unique circumstances. To book your non-surgical consultation email us at concierge@averyplasticsurgery.com.au or call our Care Team on (02) 4002 4150.
Possible risks of treatment include:
- Bruising. This is the most common risk and will fade over time.
- Redness.
- Mild pain or swelling around the areas treated that should resolve within 72 hours.
- Skin rashes and itching.
- Allergic reaction.
Bio-remodelling treatments can be used on the face, the neck, decolletage, chest, stomach, inner arms, hands, and knees. Bio-remodelling can also be used to treat mild acne scarring.
Bio-remodelling treatments are not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended if you have an active skin infection.
If you are taking medications, including antibiotics, it is important to share this information during your consultation.
Avoid alcohol in the week prior to your treatment because it can increase the risk of bruising and swelling. Also avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications 2 weeks prior.
Topical numbing cream can be applied to the treatment areas to improve comfort levels during the treatment. The hydrating effect on the skin can typically be seen within a few weeks, with skin feeling softer, smoother, and tighter. As the process of collagen and elastin stimulation occurs, final results will emerge over the following 5-6 months. The results are not permanent because the ingredients of the treatment are gradually absorbed by the body. Treatments are typically completed in a series of three, spaced one month apart, and can repeated every 6-12 months.
Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours after your treatment. Do not apply makeup for the first 12 hours after your treatment or use facial products with retinoids or other potentially irritating ingredients. Aspirin and alcohol should be avoided for 12-48 hours after your treatment.
