It is not possible to outline every potential side effect or rare complication of non-surgical aesthetic treatments. However, it is important that you are aware of the more common risks, as well as the less common but potentially serious complications. This information is provided to help you carefully consider the potential benefits, risks, and limitations of treatment.
A more detailed and personalised discussion of risks will take place during your consultation. This will include consideration of individual factors such as smoking, medications, and pre-existing medical conditions, which can increase the likelihood of complications.
The following information outlines some of the recognised risks and recovery considerations for the treatment you may be considering. Please note that additional risks, specific to your circumstances, may also apply.
All medical procedures carry risks. With BBL® HEROic treatments, possible risks include:
- Temporary redness and hot feeling (common)
- Blistering during the treatment
- Scarring
- Burns.
What to expect after your treatment:
You may experience some redness in the treatment area that should resolve within a few hours.
If the treated area is especially warm within the first 12 hours after the treatment, a cold compress or ice pack can be used to provide comfort.
If the skin appears red or swollen (sunburn sensation), an icepack can provide comfort, and/or Vitamin E or Aloe Vera can be applied to the treatment area. In rare cases, oral pain relievers may be used.
You may notice darkening of your pigmented spots, followed by fading and flaking off at within 7 to 14 days of your treatment.
Your skin is typically healed one week after the treatment. The skin on your body might take longer to heal, compared to your face.
While your skin is healing, avoid anything that will irritate the skin, such as exfoliants, shaving, too hot or too cold water, and swimming pools or spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine. Also use a soft washcloth and towel to avoid any scrubbing.
Some clients experience itching after BBL, if this is a concern for you, hydrozole anti-inflammatory cream may relieve temporary discomfort and is available from pharmacies without a script.
Wear a wide-brimmed hat or sun protective clothing post-treatment to avoid blistering, scarring, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation.
Sunscreen is a MUST and should be used daily beginning the day of treatment and used consistently. Use sunscreen with Broadband UVA and UVB protection and a SPF of at least 30. Ensure to reapply during sun exposure.
DO NOT expose your skin to direct sun exposure for 14 days. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change.
In the rare event of broken skin or blistering, contact Avery immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight. You can apply an antibiotic ointment such as chlorsig, available without a script from the pharmacy.
For most people virtually no downtime after this non-invasive procedure. In most cases, you can apply make-up, return to work and resume most of your activities immediately. Do not apply make-up on broken skin.
All medical procedures carry risks. Possible risks associated with bio-remodelling include:
Incidents of inflammatory reactions (erythema, oedema, etc) sometimes associated with itching and pain to the touch may occur. These reactions may persist for 7/10 days or more.
Hardening or nodules may appear at the point of injection. I was also informed about very rare cases, as described in literature, of discoloration at the injection point, necrosis of glabellar area, abscess, granuloma and hypersensitivity, after hyaluronic acid injections.
Skin infection (cellulitis) which presents as hot, red, shiny skin and you may also be generally unwell. In the case of suspected infection following Profhilo, you should contact your practitioner but also seek medical assessment as soon as possible as you will likely need antibiotics. Occasionally infection can form a swollen collection called an abscess. In this case you again must seek urgent medical attention. If you suffer from cold sores (a herpes virus infection of the lip) these can sometimes be reactivated following injections. Occasionally people can develop an unwanted inflammatory reaction to Profhilo and this can lead to nodule formation called granuloma. These often present as a delayed complication several months after the treatment. Several treatment options are available for granuloma formation and you may require medical assessment. Sometimes people can faint or feel faint with injections.
Vascular (blood vessels) compromise or occlusion, where normal blood flow is reduced or blocked, which could cause pain, skin discolouration, or if not treated could lead to skin breakdown, scarring or tissue death. In rare cases if blood vessels that connect to the eye are blocked it could cause vision loss or blindness.
Allergic reaction to Profhilo, including anaphylactic reaction which would require emergency medical assistance and transfer to hospital. Rarely Profhilo can be injected into an artery blocking the flow of blood to the tissue being treated. This is known as vascular occlusion, if untreated it is serious because it can lead to death of tissue (necrosis) which may require reconstructive surgery to correct. In the rare event of vascular occlusion, it would be treated with emergency injections of a dissolving drug called Hyaluronidase. This is an enzyme that removes the hyaluronic acid occluding the blood vessel and can usually fully reverse the vascular occlusion leading to no long-term harmful effects. Your practitioner will be trained in how to use Hyaluronidase in an emergency, however if treatment with Hyaluronidase is not successful then you would require urgent medical assessment or assessment by a doctor who is a specialist in aesthetic medicine.
Common to Both Profhilo® and Profhilo Structura®
- Redness, swelling, tenderness or itching may occur at injection sites. This is common and usually settles within a few days.
- Bruising can occur. It may be mild or, in some cases, more noticeable and take up to 1–2 weeks to fade.
- Small lumps or bumps at the injection points can appear immediately after treatment. These usually resolve as the product disperses and can take up to 3 days.
- Temporary discomfort or tightness in the treated area is normal and typically improves within several days.
- Everyone’s response is different. Some people see changes in skin quality within a few weeks, while for others it may take longer.
Specific to Profhilo®
- Because Profhilo is injected with multiple fine needle points, you may notice tiny raised blebs (small mosquito-bite like marks) at each injection site. These usually flatten within 24–72 hours as the product spreads.
- Mild bruising at these points is more common with Profhilo than with cannula techniques.
- The skin may feel slightly warm or firm around the injection sites for a short period.
Specific to Profhilo Structura®
- Profhilo Structura is delivered deeper with a cannula, so injection-point bumps are less obvious, but you may have:
- Mild swelling, fullness or tenderness in the deeper tissue, which can last a few days longer than after standard Profhilo.
- A higher chance of bruising along the cannula track, as the instrument passes under the skin.
- Because it is placed into the subcutaneous layer, you may feel a slight heaviness or pressure sensation in the treated area for several days.
- Rarely, temporary asymmetry may occur if one side settles faster than the other; this usually resolves as the product integrates.
What to avoid following your Profhilo treatment:
Avoid alcohol
Alcohol increases dehydration levels, which you do not want to do during your aftercare regime. One of the best benefits of bio remodelling treatment (Profhilo) is extreme skin hydration. This makes your skin look healthy and plump, so do your best to avoid alcohol for as long as possible. There are no dangers with drinking alcohol, but if you’re spending money on skin hydration, it makes sense to limit dehydrating actions.
Avoid strenuous exercise
Strenuous physical activity should be avoided after Profhilo treatments for 24 hours. You need your skin to start to recover and adding sweat or heat will make things take slightly longer. Normal activities can be resumed 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid heat-inducing activities
You should avoid activities that induce heat, like; saunas, spas, hot water and hot showers. These activities increase the likelihood of bruising, so make sure to avoid them for 48 hours after your treatment.
Avoid wearing makeup
Our aftercare advice regarding make up is to avoid makeup for at least 12 hours after your Profhilo treatment. This gives the treatment area and injection site time to recover and not have any external irritants added to the mix. *Pro Tip: Get Profhilo treatments done in the afternoon so you can wear makeup as normal the next day.
Avoid certain other skincare treatments
You should avoid facials and skincare treatments that can be harsh on the skin for at least 2 weeks. Some of these include:
- Waxing
- Chemical peels
- Microneedling (skin needling)
- Microdermabrasion
- IPL
- Laser treatments
Give your skin a break and let the bio remodelling and hyaluronic acid work without competition.
Avoid dental procedures
For two weeks after the treatment due to risk of infection, increased inflammation, pressure and manipulation, and medication considerations.
Apply a cool compress (if needed)
If you’re experiencing any minor bruising or swelling from your initial treatment, you can apply a simple compression such as an ice pack or cold compression towel to the area to help minimise the swelling reduce bruising. This should only be done on the day of treatment, and you should make sure not to overdo it. 5-10mins every 30-60mins is fine.
Chemical peels come with potential risks, which vary depending on the peel's depth and the individual's skin type.
Synergie Skin Chemical Peels:
According to information from Synergie Skin, possible side effects of their chemical peels include:
- Sensory reactions: A tingling or burning sensation during application, with the skin feeling warm, tight, swollen, or itchy for up to 24 hours post-treatment.
- Skin appearance changes: The skin may appear slightly pink and feel tight immediately following the peel.
- Dryness and discomfort: Dryness and mild discomfort may occur, typically alleviated with appropriate post-treatment skincare.
SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels:
SkinCeuticals outlines specific risks associated with their chemical peels, particularly deep chemical peels:
- Skin colour changes: There's a significant risk of scarring and prolonged hyperpigmentation in patients with darker skin tones.
- Post-treatment sensitivity: Post-treatment, the skin may feel red, tight, and swollen, necessitating careful infection prevention during the healing process.
General risks associated with chemical peels:
Beyond the specific risks associated with Synergie Skin and SkinCeuticals peels, general risks include:
- Skin colour alterations: Chemical peels can cause temporary or permanent changes in skin colour, leading to either hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.
- Scarring: Although rare, scarring is a possible complication, especially with deeper peels.
- Infection: There's a risk of bacterial, fungal, or viral infections post-peel, including flare-ups of the herpes virus.
- Cardiopulmonary issues: Deep chemical peels using agents like phenol can affect heart function and may cause irregular heartbeats, as well as potential damage to the kidneys and liver.
It's crucial to consult with your Avery Aesthetics practitioner to determine the most appropriate peel for your skin type and concerns, and to fully understand the potential risks involved.
After a Synergie Skin or SkinCeuticals chemical peel, the skin will be more sensitive and require careful post-care:
- Avoid sun exposure for at least a week after your treatment.
- Avoid using harsh exfoliants for a week or longer after the peel.
- Stick to gentle skincare products and avoid any acids or retinoids for a few days.
- Follow your skincare professional's advice for optimal recovery.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your skin is well-prepared for the chemical peel and can handle the treatment more effectively, helping you achieve the best results with minimal side effects.
All medical procedures carry risks. Some of the risks of ClearSilk include:
- Erythema (redness) may occur in the area of treatment. This may last several hours.
- Edema (swelling) of the skin may occur. In rare cases there may be blistering.
- Urticaria (itching) and hive-like appearance is also associated with the thermal light affecting the surrounding skin.
Recovery & Aftercare
What to expect after treatment:
Skin may appear red and swollen and have a mild sunburn sensation. This is a normal reaction. It can last from a few hours to days after treatment. Applying a cold compress or ice pack will help minimise swelling. This is typically only needed within the first 12 hours after the treatment.
If desired, make-up may usually be applied immediately after the treatment.
Subsequent treatments are based upon your clinician’s recommendation and are typically 2-4 weeks apart.
In the rare event of broken skin or blistering, contact the office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight
All medical procedures carry risks. Some of the risks of ClearV include:
- Erythema (redness) may occur in the area of treatment. This may last several hours.
- Edema (swelling) of the skin may occur. In rare cases there may be blistering.
- Urticaria (itching) and hive-like appearance is also associated with the thermal light affecting the surrounding skin
- Infection is not usual after treatment; however herpes simplex virus infections around the mouth can occur following treatments. This applies to both individuals with a past history of the virus or individuals with no known history.
Recovery & Aftercare
Post-treatment instructions:
The treated area must be treated with care. BE GENTLE! Do not scratch or pick at your skin.
A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort if the treated area is especially warm. This is typically only needed within the first 12 hours after the treatment.
Vitamin E or Aloe Vera applied to the treatment area may provide a soothing effect.
Post treatment discomfort is typically minimal but if the area is very uncomfortable, oral pain relievers may be used. Avoid Aspirin or Aspirin containing products for two weeks after the treatment.
In the unusual case of crusting of the skin in the treated area, apply a moisturising ointment twice a day to the affected areas. Do not pick at these areas, as this may result in infection or scarring.
If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply an antibiotic ointment and contact Averythe office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight.
In rare cases, hives have been reported after laser vein removal treatments. If you experience an irritated raised rash after treatment contact the office. Benadryl may be taken to help relieve the itchiness.
To decrease any achiness or discomfort after treatment, support hose or an ace bandage MAY be helpful, and they may also help in reducing the amount of bruising. The research comparing the use of support hose versus not using support hose demonstrates mixed results.
If you received laser vein removal treatment to your legs, your treating practitioner will instruct you in resuming your normal activity level. Often, strenuous activities such as exercise, walking or running may interfere with vessel closure.
Until sensitivity has completely subsided, avoid all of the following:
- Applying make-up over the treated areas
- Use of scented lotions or soaps, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha- hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing
- Hot or cold water - wash with tepid water
- Shaving
- Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine and severe temperature changes
- Activities that cause excessive perspiration
Strictly avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for a minimum of 7 days after the procedure. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change. Keep the area covered and use a sun block with a protection factor of 30+ reapplying the sun block every two hours. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post treatment.
All medical procedures carry risks. Possible risks associated with collagen stimulation include:
Common injection related reactions include bruising, itching, pain, transient bleeding, redness and/ or swelling in the treatment area. These reactions are usually resolved within a few days to one week.
In some cases more serious adverse events have been reported. These reported reactions include papules/nodules/lumps, swelling, granuloma (inflammation of tissue forming a lump), symptoms of visual disturbance, infection/abscess, mass/induration, numbness and facial nerve paralysis, redness, inflammation, bruising/haematoma, skin discolouration, scarring, skin atrophy (reduction in skin tissue) or skin hypertrophy (increase in skin tissue), allergic reaction, rash, muscle disorders and ischaemia/necrosis.
In some cases, nodules (small bumps under the skin) may occur within a few weeks of treatment, or they could be delayed and occur several months to over a year after treatment. Such nodules are occasionally associated with inflammation or discolouration of skin. In some cases, the nodules have been reported to have resolved on their own following treatment but may persist for a prolonged time or may need surgical excision.
Injection procedures may also lead to keloid scars and reactivation of latent herpes viral infections.
Isolated rare cases of vision abnormalities including blindness and stroke have been reported.
Topical anaesthetic cream or Sculptra supplemented with 2% lidocaine solution might be used to provide pain relief.
Recovery & Aftercare
- Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your face.
- Avoid hot tubs, saunas, heavy exercise, and sun/heat exposure for 3-5 days after treatment. Take this time to rest and heal instead.
- Massage the treated area(s) for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.
- Ice the treated area(s) for the next 24-48 hours as your injector instructs.
- Do not apply heat unless directed to do so.
- If pain relief is needed, take over-the-counter medications.
- Do not lay down flat for several hours after your treatment, and sleep on your back with your head elevated for 3-5 days after treatment, to help lessen swelling.
- Avoid applying makeup, but if you need to apply product we recommend waiting until after the first 24hrs, and using new or well-cleaned brushes and make-up.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, high salt/sugar food, spicy food, and cigarettes for at least 24-48 hours after your procedure, as these may contribute to increased swelling, bruising, and redness.
- Stay hydrated and eat as cleanly as possible, focusing on nutrient-rich whole food.
- Follow the skincare recommendations given to you by your treating practitioner at the bend of your treatment, and wait at least 2 weeks before resuming cosmetic treatments using laser/ultrasound/peels/facials/microdermabrasion.
- DO massage the treated areas 5 times a day for about 5 minutes for 5 days after treatment.
What the treatment involves:
The treatment involves several small injections with a very fine needle in the areas discussed in your treatment plan. You may feel some mild discomfort during the injections. The treatment usually takes about 15 minutes.
All medical procedures carry risks. With dynamic facial line treatments, possible risks include:
Possible risks of treatment:
The treatment may not work as well as you would like. For example, wrinkles may not smooth out as much as you were hoping for.
The treatment cause temporary drooping or raising of the eyebrows or corners of the mouth. We aim to avoid this through correct technique and minimal dosing.
Bleeding, bruising or infection, while unexpected, may develop at the injection site.
In some very rare cases, the anti-wrinkle injections side effects can spread to other areas and cause more serious complications. These complications could include; trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing due to the weakening of muscles.
Transient headache Flu-like symptoms may occur. Post treatment bacterial, and/or fungal infection, is possible
Occasional numbness of the forehead lasting up to 2-3 weeks.
Your practitioner will discuss these risks in more detail with you during your consultation, taking into account your individual circumstances and medical history.
Recovery & Aftercare
Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
Post-operative instructions:
Stay upright: For the first four hours after the injections, it's recommended to remain in an upright position and avoid lying down. This helps to prevent the migration of the treating product to unintended areas.
Use ice packs (if advised): If your injector recommends it, you can apply ice packs wrapped in a cloth to the treated area. This can help reduce swelling and alleviate any discomfort. However, be sure not to apply excessive pressure or ice directly on the skin.
Be patient: The full effects of treating product can take several days to appear. It's essential to be patient and wait for the results to take effect which can take two weeks.
Follow-up appointment: If your treating practitioner has scheduled a follow-up appointment, make sure to attend it. This allows assessment of the results and address any concerns or questions you may have.
What to avoid after your treatment:
Avoid touching the treated area: To prevent the spread of bacteria and ensure proper healing, avoid touching, rubbing or applying makeup to the injected area for at least 4 hours after the procedure.
Avoid strenuous activities: Refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, or activities that cause excessive sweating for the first 4 hours. Sweating can potentially spread the treating product to adjacent muscles.
Avoid facial treatments: Steer clear of facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or any other facial treatments for at least one week after injections. These treatments may increase the risk of complications or interfere with the results.
Refrain from alcohol: Avoid alcohol for at least 4 hours after the procedure. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of spread of the treating product.

What to expect after your treatment:
Swelling: Swelling is a common side effect of filler injections and usually occurs immediately or within the first few hours after the procedure. It can last for a few days to a week, depending on the individual and the specific filler used.
Bruising: Bruising at the injection site is also common and may appear as small, localised areas of discolouration. The bruising can vary in severity and typically resolves within a week or two.
Redness: Some redness or mild inflammation may occur at the injection site, which is usually temporary and subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
Tenderness or sensitivity: The treated area may feel tender or sensitive to touch for a few days after the injection. This tenderness is usually mild and should improve over time.
Itching: Itching or a mild sensation of tightness may be experienced in the treated area. This is generally temporary and should resolve on its own.
Lumpiness or unevenness: Initially, the filler may create a sensation of lumpiness or unevenness in the treated area. This is usually temporary and should smooth out as the filler settles.
Discolouration: In rare cases, the injected area may appear slightly bluish or discoloured. This is usually due to superficial bruising and should resolve as the bruise heals.
Rare complications: Although uncommon, there is a risk of more serious complications such as infection, allergic reactions, or vascular occlusion (blockage of a blood vessel). If you experience severe pain, excessive swelling, or any concerning symptoms or are otherwise concerned, it is important to seek medical attention promptly.
Post-treatment instructions:
- Avoid touching or applying significant pressure to the treated area for 2 weeks after the procedure. This includes avoiding excessive rubbing, massaging, or pressing on the area.
- Minimise strenuous exercise or activities that increase blood flow to the face for the first 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. This can help reduce swelling and bruising.
- Apply cold compresses or ice packs to the treated area for the first 24 hours as needed. This can help reduce swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Remember to wrap the ice pack in a clean cloth to protect your skin.
- Avoid exposure to excessive heat, such as saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms, for at least 48 hours after the procedure. Heat can increase swelling and potentially affect the results.
- Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
- Keep your head elevated while sleeping to reduce swelling. Try using an extra pillow or sleeping in a slightly upright position.
- Follow any specific instructions provided by your injector regarding follow-up appointments or additional treatments.
- Attend follow-up appointments: It's important to attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your treating practitioner so they can assess your progress, address any concerns or questions you may have, and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

All medical procedures carry risks. Some possible risks from EMFACE® include:
- Redness and swelling for 2 - 24 hours following treatment.
- Dry skin in the treatment area for 12 - 48 hours after treatment.
More uncommon risks include:
- Temporary damage to the natural skin texture (crust, blister, and burn).
- Muscular pain.
- Temporary muscle spasms.
Post-treatment instructions:
Until sensitivity has completely subsided, avoid all of the following:
Use of scented lotions or soaps, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha- hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing .
Hot or cold water - wash with tepid water.
Shaving.
Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine and severe temperature changes.
Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
Strictly avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for a minimum of 7 days after the procedure. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change. Keep the area covered and use a sun block with a protection factor of 30+, reapplying the sun block every two hours. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post treatment.
All medical procedures carry risks. Some possible risks from EMSCULPT® Neo include:
- Temporary muscle spasms.
- Muscular pain.
- Intramuscular fat decrease.
- Temporary joint or tendon pain.
- Local erythema or skin redness.
- Increased menstrual flow in females.
- Panniculitis.
Following EMSCULPT Neo treatment some people experience:
Dizziness - ensure you are taking deep breaths in through your nose and out your mouth, deep into your belly to avoid shallow breaths that may lead to hyperventilation.
Some muscle soreness.
Thirst - make sure you remain hydrated for the next 24-48 hours.
You will not feel that intense muscle soreness like you would after an intense gym workout because of the tapping phase during treatment that assist in the elimination of waste.
Post-treatment instructions:
Avoid activities that might dehydrate you, like saunas.
Usual exercise can be resumed after 24 hours. Do not do weight training or intense exercise for 24 hours following your treatment. Light walking is okay.
All medical procedures carry risks. With Er: YAG laser, possible risks include:
Edema (swelling) of the skin may occur and can be minimized by keeping the area upright. Urticaria (itching) often times occurs as the old skin is shed and the new skin is being formed. If any of the above symptoms intensify, your clinician should be notified. A cool compress placed on the area provides comfort. The treated area should be cared for delicately. Limited activity may be advised, as well as no spa, steam, sauna, or shower use.
Discomfort, especially a sunburn feeling, may persist for a few days.
PIH or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (browning) and hypopigmentation (lightening) have been noted. These conditions usually resolve within 2-6 months. Permanent color change is a rare risk. Vigilant care must be taken to avoid sun exposure (tanning beds included) before and after the treatment to reduce the risk of color change. After the skin has gone through its healing phase and is intact, sunscreen and / or sun block should be applied when sun exposure is necessary.
Infection is not usual after treatments; however herpes simplex virus infections around the mouth can occur following treatments. This applies to both individuals with a past history of the virus or individuals with no known history. Other signs of an infection can be a fever, purulent (pus) material, severe redness, swelling in the area, and skin that is hot to the touch. Should these symptoms occur, the clinician must be notified to prescribe appropriate medical care.
Allergic reaction is uncommon from treatment. Some persons may have a hive-like appearance in the treated area. Some persons have localised reactions to cosmetics or topical preparations. Systemic reactions are rare.
If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that this treatment could contribute to a recurrence.
Recovery & Aftercare
What to expect after your treatment:
- Redness normally persists for 24 hours – to 3 days depending upon the depth of the treatment.
- Oozing may persist for 24 hours after the treatment.
- Swelling is typically a short-term response. Use of a cold compress or ice packs will help to relieve the swelling. To avoid further swelling, you may choose to sleep in an upright position the first night after the treatment.
- If an antiviral was prescribed for you, continue to take as directed.
- While not commonly needed, post treatment discomfort may be relieved by oral pain relievers.
- A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort if the treated area is especially warm. This is typically only needed within the first 12 hours after the treatment.
- Cleanse the skin two times a day with plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser; e.g., Avene Tolerance supplied in your Avery aftercare pack, beginning the morning after the treatment. Use your hands to gently apply the cleanser and water and finish by patting dry with a soft cloth. Be careful not to rub the treated area.
- After cleansing your face, apply the Avene Cicalfate supplied in your Avery aftercare pack, taking care to cover all treated areas. The cream provides a protective barrier that will hold moisture into the skin and provides protection to the skin from pollutants in the air as the skin heals. Typically, Avene Cicalfate is applied for the first 3-5 days after treatment. Reapply the occlusive barrier as needed. Do not allow the treated area to dry out.
- Peeling and flaking will likely occur around day 3-5 post treatment and should be allowed to come off naturally. DO NOT PICK, RUB, OR FORCE OFF ANY SKIN DURING THE HEALING PROCESS, THIS COULD RESULT IN SCARRING AND INFECTION! Gently washing the skin more frequently will help to promote the peeling process.
- Avoid direct sunlight while your skin is healing. A sunblock should be worn on a daily basis to help prevent any hyperpigmentation that could be caused by direct and indirect sunlight.
- Once skin has healed you may begin to wear makeup, but avoid makeup until this time.
- When showering, be sure to wash your hair behind you to avoid getting shampoo directly on the treated area - it might sting.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until after skin has healed.
- ProFractional treatments are usually performed in a series. Your next treatment will typically be within 4-6 weeks.

All medical procedures carry risks. Some possible risks from EXION® Fractional RF include:
- Intense heating sensation during or just following the treatment.
- Some pain. Topical anaesthetics can be used.
- Bleeding at contact locations several seconds following the withdrawal of the applicator.
- Erythema and edema in the treated area, which often disappears within 24 hours.
- Itching and irritation in the treated area, which often disappears within 24 hours.
- Visible small crusts, blisters or burns occasionally develop at contact locations. These typically slough within 1 week for sensitive skin.
- Pigmentation change, including hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is more likely with skin types V and VI.
Post-treatment instructions:
Avoid sun exposure or any excessive tanning for several days after the treatment. A broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunblock should be used outdoors until the skin is completely healed.
Avoid skin irritation in the treated area for 24-48 hours after treatment.
Makeup can be applied 24-72 hours after each session if the skin is not broken.
Gentle cleansers can be used on the skin. However, scrub soaps or exfoliants should be generally avoided for 24 hours after treatment.
All medical procedures carry risks. Some of the risks of Forever Clear BBL by BBLTM HEROic include:
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. It may last from 2 hours to 24 hours.
An initial flare-up of acne in the first and second session. This usually subsides with each session. If some of the blemishes form scabs, do not pick, scratch, or remove.
Erythema (redness) in the area of treatment. This may last several hours. Edema (swelling) of the skin in the treated area. Urticaria (itching) or hive-like appearance is also associated with the thermal light affecting the surrounding skin. Purpura (bruising) is seen when a blood vessel bursts. These symptoms usually subside in a few hours. A cool compress placed on the area provides comfort. The treated area should be cared for delicately for at least 12-24 hours. Limited activity to reduce excessive perspiration may be advised as well as no hot tub, steam, sauna, or shower use.
A blister can form up to 48 hours after treatment. An antibiotic cream or ointment can be used. Other short-term effects include bruising, superficial crusting, and discomfort.
Hyperpigmentation (browning) and hypopigmentation (lightening) have been noted. These conditions usually resolve within 2-6 months, permanent colour change is a rare risk. Vigilant care must be taken to avoid sun exposure (tanning beds included) before and after the treatments to reduce the risk of colour change. Sunscreen and / or sun block should be applied when sun exposure is necessary.
Infection is not usual after treatments; however, herpes simplex virus infections around the mouth can occur following treatments. This applies to both individuals with a history of the virus or individuals with no known history. Should any kind of infection occur, your clinician must be notified to prescribe appropriate medical care.
Allergic reaction is uncommon from treatment. Some persons may have a hive-like appearance in the treated area as discussed above. Some persons have localised reactions to cosmetics or topical preparations. Systemic reactions are rare.
Recovery & Aftercare
Post-treatment instructions:
The treated area must be treated with care. BE GENTLE! Do not scratch or pick at your skin.

Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment as long as skin is intact and there are no signs of blistering.
Vitamin E or Aloe Vera applied to the treatment area may provide a soothing effect.
Until sensitivity has completely subsided, avoid all of the following:
- Use of scented lotions or soaps, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha- hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing
- Hot or cold water - wash with tepid water
- Shaving
- Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine
- Activities that cause excessive perspiration
Strictly avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for a minimum of 7 – 14 days after the procedure. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change. Keep the area covered and use a sunblock with a protection factor of 30+ reapplying the sun block every two hours. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post treatment.
All medical procedures carry risks. Some of the risks of Forever Young include:
- Scarring.

What to expect after your treatment:
Redness is normal and expected. Redness generally increases in intensity the first few days after treatment with day 3 being most intense. Redness can persist for up to 7 days depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment.
Pinpoint bleeding may occur. This can last for a few hours - 12 hours depending on the treatment depth and may be isolated to certain treated areas.
The treated area may be extremely warm for 12-24 hours after the treatment. Cold compresses or ice packs may provide comfort during this time.
Swelling is common and expected after the treatment. Use of a cold compress or ice packs will help to relieve the swelling. To avoid further swelling, you may choose to sleep in an upright position the first night after the treatment. The first morning post treatment is when swelling is more prevalent for many people, and for others swelling peaks around day 3 post-treatment. Swelling may last 2-4 days depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment.
On the 2nd or 3rd day after treatment, you will increasingly notice tiny dark spots and a bronzed appearance to the treated skin. This is called the MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris). In individuals with heavily pigmented skin, or in areas where sun damage has produced pigmented lesions, the microscopic wounds, known as MENDS, contain large amounts of melanin. Because there are so many MENDS, they can make the skin look bronzed and small areas appear crusted (do not try to scratch them off). This is part of the healing process where treated tissue is working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerated. During this time, your skin will be very dry and have a sandpaper texture and will begin to flake and peel. If the face is treated, it could take 5-7 days for the peeling process to be completed. If the neck, chest or anywhere on the body was treated, this process could take up to 2 weeks.
After the peeling process is complete, your skin will have a rosy, pink glow that will gradually resolve. A gentle makeup can be applied to the skin at this stage.
If an antiviral was prescribed for you, continue to take as directed.
Post treatment discomfort may be relieved by over the counter oral pain relievers; or prescribed pain medication if ordered by the doctor.
Itching may be experienced during the healing phase and is completely normal. Oral Benadryl may help itching but can cause drowsiness. DO NOT scratch the treated area as scarring and pigmentation complications can occur.
There may be some degree of swelling post treatment; however, if you have excessive swelling or any of the following signs of infection, you should contact Avery immediately. Signs of infection include:
· Drainage – looks like pus
· Increased warmth at or around the treated area
· Fever
· Extreme itching
Post-treatment instructions:
Immediately after treatment, your Avery clinician will apply a serum to your skin to accelerate the healing process. You will be supplied with a thick barrier cream, Avene Cicalfate, in your Avery aftercare pack. This should be applied generously to the treated area regularly, being sure to keep the skin moist at all times in the first 3-5 days.
Cleanse the skin two times a day with plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser; e.g. Avène Tolerance Extremely Gentle Cleanser supplied in your Avery aftercare pack, beginning the morning after the treatment. Use your hands to gently apply the cleanser and water and finish by patting dry with a soft cloth. DO NOT rub, scrub, use an exfoliant or a skin care brush (e.g. Clarisonic) in the treated area. Doing so could result in scarring and pigmentation complications.
Peeling and flaking generally occurs between day 4 and 7 post treatment and should be allowed to come off naturally. DO NOT PICK, RUB, OR FORCE OFF ANY SKIN DURING THE HEALING PROCESS, THIS COULD RESULT IN SCARRING, PIGMENTATION COMPLICATIONS AND INFECTION! Gently washing the skin more frequently will help to promote the peeling process.
Sunscreen is a MUST and should be used daily beginning the day of treatment and used vigilantly for up to 3 months post procedure. Use a recommended sunscreen with broadband protection (UVA and UVB) and a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 at least. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours. Your Avery aftercare pack contains a sunscreen to use during the healing phase post-treatment.
If direct sun exposure is necessary, wear a hat and clothing that covers the treated area. If treated area is exposed to sun (direct or indirect) blistering, scarring, hyperpigmentation or hypo-pigmentation can / will occur. Sun exposure on the treated area should be avoided for 2 months post treatment.
Typically after the peeling process is complete, make-up can be worn.
When showering in the next few days, be sure to avoid getting shampoo directly on the treated area. You may consider taking your shower with the back of your head to the water to avoid directly hitting your face with the full force stream of the water.
Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until after skin has healed.

All medical procedures carry risks. Some possible risks for NanoLaserPeel treatment include:
Redness and Swelling: Mild to moderate redness and swelling can occur, typically lasting from a few hours to a few days after the procedure. In some cases, swelling may last longer.
Hyperpigmentation or Hypopigmentation: Rarely, the treatment can lead to either darkening (hyperpigmentation) or lightening (hypopigmentation) of the skin, particularly in individuals with darker skin tones. These changes may be temporary or, in rare cases, permanent
Scarring: Although rare, there is a potential risk of scarring, especially if post-treatment care instructions are not followed, such as picking at the skin or exposing it to excessive sun.
Infection: As with any skin procedure, there is a small risk of infection, particularly if the skin is not properly cared for post-treatment or exposed to bacteria.
Pain or Discomfort: Some individuals may experience more pain or discomfort than expected, especially in sensitive areas, though this is usually temporary and resolves as the skin heals.
Prolonged Healing or Delayed Skin Regeneration: In some cases, healing may take longer than expected, or the skin may take longer to regenerate, especially if the treatment was aggressive or if the skin has other pre-existing conditions.
Skin Tightness and Dryness: While common, some individuals may experience more intense dryness, flakiness, or tightness than expected during the healing period, which could cause discomfort.
Allergic Reactions: Some people may experience allergic reactions to the numbing cream, topical products used after the treatment, or the laser itself. Reactions can include itching, redness, or swelling.
Temporary Alteration in Sensation: There may be temporary numbness, tingling, or altered sensation in the treated area, which usually resolves within a few days to weeks.
Uneven Results: In rare cases, the treatment may not fully address certain skin concerns, or results may appear uneven, requiring additional treatments
Pigment Changes Due to Sun Exposure: If proper sun protection is not used during the recovery period, the skin may develop pigment irregularities, such as sun spots or dark spots, due to UV exposure.
Risk of Hyperpigmentation for Those with a Tan or Sunburned Skin: It is advised not to undergo a NanoLaserPeel on sunburned or recently tanned skin, as it can increase the risk of complications like hyperpigmentation or burns.
Recovery & Aftercare
What to expect after your treatment:
- Redness and Swelling: Your skin may appear red or slightly swollen immediately after the treatment, similar to a mild sunburn. This typically lasts a few hours to a few days.
- Warmth or Tightness: You may feel a warm or tight sensation on the treated areas as your skin begins to heal.
- Peeling or Flaking: Within 1-2 days after treatment, you will likely experience peeling or flaking as the outer layer of skin sheds. This is part of the resurfacing process.
- Dryness: Your skin may feel dry or rough as the new skin forms underneath. It’s important to keep your skin moisturized to aid the healing process.
- Sensitivity: Your skin may be more sensitive than usual, especially to sunlight. Sun protection is crucial during the recovery period to prevent further damage or irritation.
- Mild Discomfort: A sensation of mild discomfort, itching, or tenderness can occur during the healing process but generally resolves within a few days.
- Improved Skin Texture and Tone: As healing progresses, your skin will begin to look smoother, brighter, and more even in tone, with visible reduction in fine lines, sun damage, and other imperfections.
- Healing Time: The outer layer of skin usually heals within 3–5 days, though it may take up to 7–10 days for full recovery in some cases. Full results typically become visible 1–2 weeks after the procedure.
Post-treatment instructions:
- Apply Moisturiser: Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser regularly to keep the skin soft and prevent dryness or flaking. Opt for one that is fragrance-free and formulated for sensitive skin.
- Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after the treatment. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, even on cloudy days.
- Don’t Pick or Peel: Avoid picking or scratching the treated area, as this can cause scarring or infection. Let the skin peel naturally.
- Cleanse Gently: Cleanse your skin with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser. Avoid using harsh scrubs or exfoliants during the healing process.
- Avoid Heat and Sweating: For the first few days, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating (like intense exercise or hot showers), as this can irritate healing skin.
- Use Cool Compresses: If your skin feels warm or swollen, apply a cool compress to the treated area for short periods (10-15 minutes) to soothe discomfort.
- Avoid Makeup (for 24-48 hours): To minimize the risk of irritation or infection, avoid wearing makeup for at least 24–48 hours after the treatment.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help your skin heal from the inside out and maintain optimal moisture levels.
- Avoid Swimming or Hot Tubs: Stay away from chlorinated pools, saunas, and spa pools for at least 7 days to prevent infection and irritation.
- Follow-Up Care: Attend any follow-up appointments with your clinician as scheduled to ensure proper healing and to address any concerns.

Recovery & Aftercare
If you are given a mask, apply it 90 minutes after the completion of your treatment and keep it on for around 30 minutes.
For the first 90 mins, don’t touch treatment areas or put anything else on (besides the mask), and avoid any sun exposure.
Preferably, do not apply any products to your skin, apart from make-up if necessary, for 6-8 hours after your mask is taken off.
Avoid sweating for the first 24 hours (no gym, sauna, swimming, exercise) and spicy food.
Avoid exposure to pet dander and other irritants as best you can. You may experience a mild allergic reaction to pets and other things you typically do not react to within the first 24 hours.
Your skin may feel hot and tight, like a mild sunburn.
For your first treatment, (and treatments at .25mm in general) you can expect mild redness and swelling, and a tight, warm sensation for between 4-24 hours. Treatments with longer needle lengths may produce redness and swelling, along with tiny flecks of redness for between 4-72 hours.
Mild skin sloughing may occur for a few days after treatment.
Mild acne and milia can occur in rare cases. Don’t pick and they’ll go away in a few days.
Trans-Epidermal Water Loss is a common temporary side effect and could leave you feeling dry throughout the first week. Keep the recommended moisturiser with you during the day and apply as frequently as necessary to avoid dryness.
After 6-8 hours, you can apply a mild moisturiser as well as an SPF 30 or higher with Zinc Oxide sunblock and daily thereafter to maximise results.
After 36-48 hours post-procedure: apply the Procell Therapies Cellular Renewal Serum and Healing Accelerator for the best results. Cleanse first and apply 1-3 pumps each. Apply daily, morning and night.
Do not apply any products with the following for at least one week after treatment: Retin-A, Retinol, Vitamin C, beta hydroxy acids (BHA), alpha hydroxy acids (AHA).
All medical procedures carry risks. Some possible risks from MicroLaserPeel treatments include:
Redness and Swelling: After the procedure, you may experience redness and swelling, similar to a mild sunburn. This can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on the depth of the peel.
Hyperpigmentation (Dark Spots): In some cases, the skin can develop darker spots, especially in people with darker skin tones or those who don't follow proper sun protection post-treatment. This is known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and can be temporary or, in rare cases, permanent.
Hypopigmentation (Light Spots): Less commonly, the skin can become lighter in certain areas, leading to hypopigmentation. This can occur if the treatment is too aggressive for your skin or if the skin heals unevenly.
Scarring: Although rare, there is a risk of scarring, particularly if the skin is not properly cared for or if the treatment is too deep for an individual’s skin type. This risk can also increase if the skin is picked at during the healing process.
Infection: Any procedure that involves the skin's surface carries a risk of infection. It's important to follow post-treatment instructions carefully to minimise this risk.
Temporary Skin Tightness or Dryness: It’s common to experience temporary tightness, dryness, or a feeling of “rawness” as the skin heals. In some cases, these sensations may be more pronounced, depending on the depth of the peel.
Altered Skin Sensitivity: The treated area may be more sensitive to sunlight or other irritants for several weeks after the procedure. This makes sun protection even more important during the healing process.
Uneven Results: While MicroLaserPeel treatments are effective for many people, there’s a risk that results may be uneven, especially in deeper peels. This may require additional treatments to correct.
Prolonged Healing Time: Healing time can vary depending on the depth of the peel and the area treated. In some cases, the skin may take longer to recover than expected, especially with deeper peels, leading to prolonged redness or flaking.
Allergic Reactions: Although rare, some people may experience allergic reactions to the numbing cream or other topical products used during or after the treatment, leading to redness, swelling, or irritation.
Recovery & Aftercare
What to expect after your treatment:
After a MicroLaserPeel, your recovery experience will depend on the depth of the treatment, but there are common elements across all depths:
- Immediately After Treatment:
- Superficial Depth: For lighter treatments, you may feel mild warmth or a sensation of tightness on your skin right after the procedure. Redness similar to a mild sunburn is common and can last for a few hours to a day.
- Medium and Deeper Depths: For deeper treatments, you will likely experience more intense redness and warmth, as well as a stronger feeling of tightness. The skin may appear slightly swollen, and you may feel more discomfort in the treated areas.
- The First 1-3 Days:
- Superficial Depth: The redness will start to fade, and your skin may feel dry or tight. You may experience mild peeling or flaking as the outer layer of skin begins to shed.
- Medium Depth: The redness may persist for a few days, and you may experience more noticeable swelling and discomfort. You could also experience moderate peeling or flaking, which can be more pronounced than with a superficial peel.
- Deeper Depth: With a deeper peel, your skin may be more swollen and red for several days. The sensation of tightness could be more intense, and there may be more substantial peeling, which could last up to 7 days. Some people may experience mild blistering, which will usually heal within a few days.
- Post-Treatment Peeling:
- Superficial Depth: You can expect light peeling or flaking within 1-2 days. This usually isn’t very noticeable but can be managed with gentle moisturising and avoiding picking at the skin.
- Medium and Deeper Depths: The peeling can be more significant, with larger flakes of skin shedding within 2-4 days. You may need to apply more frequent moisturisers or hydrating products to ease the discomfort and prevent irritation. Deeper peels may also cause crusting, which should not be picked off to avoid scarring or infection.
- Healing Time and Sensitivity:
- Superficial Depth: Recovery for lighter peels is typically faster, with most people seeing full recovery within 3-5 days. The skin may still be sensitive during this time, so it’s important to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen.
- Medium and Deeper Depths: The recovery for deeper peels will take longer. You can expect redness, swelling, and peeling to last longer, possibly up to 7-10 days. You may feel more sensitive during the healing process, and your skin may feel dry or raw. It’s crucial to follow post-treatment care instructions to reduce risks of infection, scarring, or prolonged irritation.
- Results:
- Superficial Depth: The results from a lighter peel are usually subtle but include smoother, more even skin with improved texture and radiance. These improvements can appear within 3-5 days as healing progresses.
- Medium and Deeper Depths: For more aggressive peels, the results can be more noticeable, with significant improvement in skin texture, tone, and the reduction of fine lines, sun damage, and acne scars. These results may become more apparent after 1-2 weeks, once the skin has fully healed.
- Throughout the recovery period, you will need to avoid sun exposure, follow the skincare routine prescribed by your practitioner, and avoid activities that could irritate the healing skin (e.g., sweating, hot showers, or swimming). Depending on the depth of the peel, you may experience more intense discomfort, redness, and peeling, but these symptoms generally subside with proper care.
Post-treatment instructions:
Immediately After Treatment:
- Cool Compress: Apply a cool compress to your skin for 10–15 minutes if you feel any discomfort or warmth. This will help reduce swelling and provide comfort.
- Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from direct sunlight immediately after the treatment. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to avoid further irritation or pigmentation changes.
First 1–3 Days (Superficial, Medium, or Deep Peel):
- Redness and Swelling: Expect some redness and swelling after the treatment, which can be more intense for deeper peels. This is normal and will typically subside within 24–72 hours.
- Diluted vinegar rinse (Medium or Deep): 1 cap to 100ml of cool water and wet supplied sterile gauze and press against skin.
- Avoid Picking or Scratching: Do not pick, scratch, or peel the skin, as this can cause scarring and increase the risk of infection.
- Diluted vinegar rinse (Medium or Deep): 1 cap to 100ml of cool water and wet supplied sterile gauze and press against skin.
Peeling Phase (2–7 Days, Depending on Depth of Peel):
- Peeling/Flaking: Expect mild to moderate peeling, which usually begins within 1–2 days after the treatment, especially with medium and deep peels. Let your skin shed naturally. Do not forcefully remove the peeling skin to avoid scarring or irritation.
- Avoid Makeup (for 24–48 hours): After the procedure, refrain from using makeup for at least 24–48 hours to avoid irritation. Once the skin begins to heal, you can use makeup if needed, but ensure that products are non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin.
- Hydration: Keep your skin well-moisturised with a gentle, hydrating product. This will help speed up the healing process and minimize discomfort.
Ongoing Care (Days 3–7, Depending on Peel Depth):
- Sun Protection: For at least 2 weeks after the treatment, avoid direct sun exposure. Apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every 2 hours if you are outdoors, even on cloudy days.
- Avoid Heat and Sweat: For the first 3–5 days, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as vigorous exercise, hot showers, or saunas. These can irritate the skin and slow healing.
- No Swimming or Spa Pools: Stay away from chlorinated pools, hot spas or swimming for at least 7 days to reduce the risk of infection and irritation.
- Moisturise: Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated, such as Avene Cicalfate. This will help with tightness, dryness, and peeling. For deeper peels, you may need to moisturize more frequently.
- Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse your face with a mild, non-abrasive, alcohol-free cleanser. Avoid scrubbing the skin, and use lukewarm water when washing your face. Pat dry with a clean, soft towel.
- Gentle Skincare Products: Use mild skincare products that are free of alcohol, fragrances, and exfoliants. Avoid using products with active ingredients like retinoids or acids during the recovery period.
Additional Considerations for Deeper Peels (Medium to Deep Depths):
- Blistering: In some cases, deeper peels may cause blistering. If this occurs, do not pop the blisters. Keep them clean, moisturised, and protect them from infection. If blisters burst or you notice signs of infection (redness, pain, or pus), contact your practitioner.
- Prolonged Redness: With deeper treatments, it’s normal to experience redness or pinkness for up to 7–10 days. Continue using sunscreen and avoiding direct sun exposure.
- Healing: Deeper peels may require more time to heal fully, and you may experience more intense peeling or swelling. However, the results will be more dramatic, with smoother and more even skin appearing after full recovery.
Final Healing (1–2 Weeks After Treatment):
- Improved Skin Texture: As healing progresses, you will begin to see smoother, brighter, and more even skin. The full effects of the treatment will become noticeable within 1–2 weeks.
- Follow-Up: If you have any concerns or complications during recovery (such as unusual redness, pain, or signs of infection), contact your practitioner. A follow-up appointment may be recommended to assess the healing process and determine if any additional treatments are needed.
By following these instructions, you will help ensure a smoother recovery and optimal results from your MicroLaserPeel treatment. Always follow any specific aftercare guidelines provided by your practitioner on the day, as they may vary based on your unique skin needs and the depth of the peel.
While the polynucleotide (PN) is biocompatible and generally well-tolerated by human skin, all medical procedures carry risks. With REJURAN® treatments, possible risks include:
Possible risks of treatment:
The treatment may result in injection marks, bruising, minor redness, small visible bumps, swelling, and skin sensitivity that will subside between 1 and 3 days.
Scabs may form at the injection site. These will heal over a few days.
Development of infection is possible and in rare cases can lead to scarring.
In rare cases if REJURAN is administered to a layer that has previously received dermal filler (cross-linked HA) injections, there can be occurrences of granuloma and hypersensitivity.
Blanching or whitening of the skin.

For swelling relief you can apply a cool compress every hour on the day of treatment.
Bruising is a common and expected side effect. Bruising is not due to poor technique and will not alter the final result of your treatment. In order to reduce bruising, it is important to adhere to the aftercare regime.

Recovery & Aftercare
Post-treatment instructions:
The treated area must be treated with care. BE GENTLE! Do not scratch or pick at your skin.
A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort if the treated area is especially warm. This is rarely needed but if so, usually within the first 4 hours after the treatment.
Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment as long as skin is intact and there are no signs of blistering.
Vitamin E or Aloe Vera applied to the treatment area may provide a soothing effect.
Post treatment discomfort is typically minimal but if the area is very uncomfortable, oral pain relievers may be used.
If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply an antibiotic ointment and contact the office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight.
Subsequent treatments are based upon your clinician’s recommendation and are typically 2-4 weeks apart. The number of treatments needed will depend upon your individual condition and your body’s response to the light.
