ClearSilk (Nd:YAG 1064nm) is a non-ablative laser suitable for the treatment of ageing concerns, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmented lesions, diffuse redness, rosacea, and acne scars.

ClearSilk works by depositing heat into micro vessels. This heat increases the temperature of the blood that is flowing through the micro vessels stimulating fibroblast activity and the body’s repair process and may result in a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles.

Risks

All medical procedures carry risks. Some of the risks of ClearSilk include:

  • Erythema (redness) may occur in the area of treatment. This may last several hours.
  • Edema (swelling) of the skin may occur. In rare cases there may be blistering.
  • Urticaria (itching) and hive-like appearance is also associated with the thermal light affecting the surrounding skin.
Recovery & Aftercare

What to expect after treatment:

Skin may appear red and swollen and have a mild sunburn sensation. This is a normal reaction. It can last from a few hours to days after treatment. Applying a cold compress or ice pack will help minimise swelling. This is typically only needed within the first 12 hours after the treatment.

If desired, make-up may usually be applied immediately after the treatment.

Subsequent treatments are based upon your clinician’s recommendation and are typically 2-4 weeks apart.

In the rare event of broken skin or blistering, contact the office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight

Wear a wide-brimmed hat or sun protective clothing post-treatment to avoid blistering, scarring, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation.

Sunscreen is a MUST and should be used daily beginning the day of treatment and used consistently. Use sunscreen with Broadband UVA and UVB protection and a SPF of at least 30. Ensure to reapply during sun exposure.

DO NOT expose your skin to direct sun exposure for 14 days. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change.

Suitability for service

ClearSilk is suitable for use on all skin types. ClearSilk should not be used if you have an infectious or connective tissue disease, are immunocompromised, pregnant, are taking medication known to increase sensitivity to light, or have a medical condition that may affect wound healing. Pre-treatment planning

It is not recommended to apply topical anaesthetic prior to your treatment. Hair in the treatment area should be shaved prior to the treatment.

What to expect

Some mild pain and discomfort are to be expected, although this varies depending on individual factors, such as pain tolerance level. Eye protection will be provided for you to wear during your treatment. Treatments are ideally performed 2-4 weeks apart, with up to 5-6 treatments required to address your concerns.
