Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive plastic surgery aims to restore as much natural function and appearance to the body as possible, whether it be recreating the volume and shape of a breast after a mastectomy, or repairing an ear that has been stretched or torn.

All reconstructive procedures at Avery Plastic Surgery are customised to suit the patient’s natural features and desired outcome; at times a combination of plastic surgery techniques may be required. Our team are passionate about ensuring optimum results for all our patients, with their safety and satisfaction our first priorities.

Dr Avery is highly skilled in many areas of reconstructive surgery such as breast reconstruction, ear lobe reconstruction, scar revision, microsurgery for repair of major trauma or cancer defects and also hand surgery for all ages. He has more than a decade’s experience in plastic surgery and has been performing reconstructive plastic surgery procedures in Newcastle since 2013.

Patients considering any form of reconstructive surgery will need to come in for a consultation to discuss the different options available. During the initial consultation, Dr Avery will assess your relevant medical history and before going any further, ensure that any procedures you are considering are a safe and appropriate choice for you.

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction can be performed at the time of mastectomy (immediate reconstruction) or at a time after healing and completion of cancer treatment (delayed reconstruction). Many women may choose to undergo a reconstruction several years after their cancer treatment.

Ear Lobe Reconstruction

Ear lobes are made up of little more than fat tissue and will generally heal quite rapidly, except in cases of serious damage.  An earlobe reconstruction aims to fix a stretched or torn earlobe, restoring the natural look of the ear with minimal scarring. Ear lobes which have undergone a reconstruction can eventually be re-pierced if desired, although re-stretching is not recommended!
