Breast Procedures

There are a number of cosmetic and health-related reasons why somebody might seek a breast procedure. Many women simply wish for a subtle, natural change to enhance disproportionately small breasts, balance asymmetrical breasts, or lift sagging and deflated breasts after the effects of pregnancy, childbirth, weight loss, and ageing.

Breast reduction or reconstruction procedures may be required for both women and men suffering from the physical and emotional effects of excess breast tissue, or other health-related problems. Learn more about breast reconstruction here.

Each breast has a unique shape, size and composition (even your left from your right), which is why every breast procedure at Avery Plastic Surgery is customised to suit the existing breast tissue, the desired outcome, and the patient’s best interests. We are passionate about creating stunning results that look and feel un-operated on.

Dr Avery is highly skilled in a wide range of cosmetic and corrective breast surgeries including Breast Augmentation, Female Breast Reduction, Male Breast Reduction, Breast Lifts, and Nipple Reshaping. He has over a decade of experience in plastic surgery and has been performing breast procedures in Newcastle since 2013.

Patients considering any form of breast surgery will need to come in for a consultation to discuss the different options available. During the initial consultation, Dr Avery will assess your relevant medical history and before going any further, ensure that any breast procedures you are considering are a safe and appropriate choice for you.

Breast Augmentation

Each breast has a unique shape, size and composition (even your left from your right) which is why every breast augmentation we do is customised to suit the existing breast tissue and the desired result.  Dr Avery has over a decade of experience in plastic surgery and has been performing breast augmentations in Newcastle since 2013.

Breast Reduction

A breast reduction (or reduction mammoplasty) can be a welcome relief for many women who have suffered from large, heavy breasts their whole life, after pregnancy, or after weight gain.  The aim of breast reduction surgery is to leave the breasts smaller, lighter, and possibly firmer, consequently sitting higher on the chest. This serves to improve everyday comfort, self-confidence, and ability to exercise, while arriving at a more balanced silhouette.

Breast Lift

A breast lift (or mastopexy) is performed when the position of one or both breasts on the chest needs to be altered. The procedure may be recommended for patients who suffer medical conditions such as rashes due to sagging breasts.  The aim of a breast lift is to restore a more youthful, contoured shape to the breast by removing excess skin and repositioning the areolae.

Breast Lift with Implants

A breast lift with implants (or augmentation mastopexy) is performed when the position of one or both breasts on the chest needs to be altered and an increase in breast volume is required due to deflation or simply not having developed a significant breast.  Combining a breast lift with a breast augmentation restores a fuller, contoured shape to the breast by removing excess skin, repositioning the areola and increasing breast volume using implants.

Breast Implant Replacement

For most patients, breast implants are expected to last at least 10 years before they should be removed and/or replaced. The longer a breast implant is inside the body after 10 years, the more likely it is to deteriorate or rupture.

Nipple Reshaping

A relatively common phenomena, nipple inversion can be caused by a number of factors including trauma, disease, and breastfeeding. Inverted nipples may also be congenital (present at birth) in both men and women.

Male Breast Reduction

Male breast surgery has become an increasingly common procedure in recent years. This is mainly due to a better general understanding and acceptance of what can cause male breast tissue to overdevelop, a condition called male breast overdevelopment, or gynaecomastia.  Gynaecomastia affects an estimated 40–60% of men and occurs when the natural male breast responds to certain hormones, giving the appearance of breast tissue. This can generally be corrected with a tailored male breast reduction leaving minimal scars.
