Avery Plastic Surgery is honoured to support the Newcastle art community by providing a space for local artists to exhibit & sell their work. The art you can see around our Practice has been provided by the artists without restriction by us & with our full support.
Newcastle is our home & we feel privileged to support our local community in this way. We hope you enjoy being surrounded by these pieces as much as we do.
Donna is a contemporary abstract painter, living and working in Newcastle. Studying a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration at Newcastle University in 1996, Donna had works published work with Taronga Zoo, illustrated five children’s books and other items for companies in Australia and New Zealand and painted a Hunter Valley wine label.
Sandy Lee is a self-taught artist born and raised in Newcastle. Sandy embraces many mediums and techniques, this being traditional pencil drawings and watercolour designs for her gift cards. Her latest Spiral paintings has evolved after discovering meditation and Reiki energy healing. Her love of the beauty spots around Lake Macquarie and Newcastle is reflected in her photography and inspirational quotes.
Shelagh Lummis is a painter with a growing reputation in her hometown of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Originally from New Zealand, she makes the point that the landscape of that country and its unique topography and colour temperatures often motivate her artistic output. A strong connection with and concern for the environment drive an evolving practice which employs an expressive visual language.
June is an award winning artist living in beautiful Port Stephens NSW. June is a popular art teacher on cruise ships throughout the Pacific and Asia. A former student of the prestigious Julian Ashton School of Art, June’s work hangs in private collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada, USA and Europe.
Alison is a Novocastrian at heart although she has had short periods of her career in Sydney and Port Macquarie, prior to teaching art and her work as a printmaker.
These days my time is mainly spent working as a General Practitioner and raising my small family. Years ago I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts and then a Masters of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Art in Sydney. I have always been an artists of sorts since my childhood. In the past, I have experimented with all sorts of media. At the current time painting is the most practical medium for me. Whilst my time in front of the easel is often brief – it is ongoing and committed.
Belinda is a professional artist who lives and works in Newcastle. Predominantly known for her expressive Australian Landscapes, her work explores the relationship between representation and abstraction with a sensitive concern for painterly qualities.
Gavin Vitullo is multi-disciplinary Newcastle based artist, although he is most recognised for his work in sculpture, for which he has been awarded numerous accolades including, first prize on consecutive occasions in the Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize, First prize in the Hunter Region Botanical Gardens sculpture prize and the recipient of the Newcastle Lord Mayors Public Sculpture Award for his recently installed work ‘Undercurrent’.
